The Gloucester Street Watermain
Rehabilitation won a Canadian Consulting Engineering 2000 Award
of Merit. It was also chosen for presentation at the NASTT No-Dig
2000 Conference in Anaheim. This project was done jointly with
Robinson Consultants Inc. of Kanata, Ontario.
The City of Ottawa estimates
that replacing the aging cast iron watermain (which had suffered
a catastrophic break several years earlier) would have taken
12-18 months of open cut construction in the downtown core. The
trenchless renewal (150 psi stand alone test rated) took less
than 4 months.
